Museum collections and the staff preserving and disseminating them are part of the lifeblood of the local community. Remove them, and one removes a significant part of the public education and culture of the people living in the area. Maybe they do not visit the museums with great frequency - neither to they visit a tájház or a symphony concert or gaze at the inside of a castle or (purely for aesthetic reasons) a church. Nor do they climb to the top of the county's highest peak, nor canoe the region's rivers. Nevertheless, museums, like all of the other and many more items listed above, are a vital part of local community life. The value of local pride in an important collection (Csontváry, Vasarely...) belonging to a region must not be taken lightly. To remove such treasures is a kind of murder.
