Egy demokráciában a megválasztott politikusok bármely testületének elsösorban ahhoz van joga, hogy megállapítsa a testület döntési illetékességébe tartozó költségvetési tételeket. Ezzel az igen egyszerû eszközzel is ki lehet fejezni, hogy egy adott finanszírozó testület (legyen az parlament, vagy helyi ill. megyei önkormányzat, stb.) milyen értékrendet képvisel. Kár emiatt belebonyolódni erõsen egypártrendszer-szagú törvénykezésbe.

Dear Friends of Hungarian Art and Democracy,

Surely you have been following the sad news from Hungary in the past months and especially the past few weeks (see links below). As you must be aware, after twenty years of democracy a new half-dictatorship is in the making. Private pension accounts are being hijacked by the state, the right-wing party Fidesz, which won with a landslide in April, are abusing their power to rewrite the constitution and deprive the supreme court of many of its key powers that would guarantee checks and balances, a central media agency will be responsible for all public news contents, papers and magazines who don't deliver the news promptly, objectively about all important events can be fined for 40000 to 100000 euros for a single faux pas, but what is objective and important will be decided by the head of the media empire alone, a woman appointed for nine (!) years, just as the chief district attorney etc. 
Parliament accepted the new media law on Monday, 20th, which means the end of the freedom of press in Hungary.

The same fate awaits the freedom of the arts.
 
On November 30th the extreme right party, Jobbik organised a demonstration (about 100 went) against the director of the National Theatre, Róbert Alföldi, an outstanding artist, who's been invited several times to work to New York, the ART and many other countries, who has recently won the Critics' Award for renewing the National Theatre, who holds numerous other awards and manages his theatre to great critical and popular acclaim and with sound financial management (it was for the first time since its foundation in 2002 that the theatre's balance was positive last year) and who happens to be gay.
Demonstrators called him "a fag, a pervert, a Jew, unworthy of the National Theatre" and many other names and demanded his removal, even though he has a valid contract till 2013. A hundred counter-demonstrators including celebrities of the Hungarian stage and also Tamás Ascher emphasized in live interviews from the street how crucial it is that the arts remain independent and artists' achievements judged on the sole condition of their artistic quality.
Jobbik, who are openly talking about Gypsy-horror and Gypsy-crime in Parliament, demanded that Alföldi (whom they are calling "Roberta") be fired. A week after the demonstration papers and news sites report that they achieved their goal and Alföldi will be replaced. His successor has also been named and is now sitting at the National "to get acquainted with the ensemble". A week ago he declared that "it is a sin" to interpret a great Hungarian classic the way Alföldi did. 
Hungarian theatre-makers started a petition "Hands off culture and media in Hungary!", which has already been signed by many great artists including the Nobel-laurate Elfriede Jelinek, as well as Luc Bondy, Andrea Breth, Ivan Nagel, Renate Klett, Declan Donnellan, Caryl Churchill, Martin Crimp, Nick Hytner, Ian Rickson, Luk Perceval, Wole Soyinka, Edward Albee and Richard Schechner among others.

"who happens to be gay." részt kivehetnéd, tekintve hogy ez 1. magánügy 2.maga a gondolkodásmód az, ami rémes itt a XX.században, ugyanis aki ellentmond/mást gondol az szerintük alapból buzi, cigány, zsidó akit "ártalmatlanítani" kell (Hitler anyone?). És hidd el, szerintük te is zsidó/cigány/leszbi vagy.

A politikusok eluldoztek mar a fiatal diplomasokat, ahogy anno mister polgarmester kijelentette, "ha nem tetszik el lehet menni".
kiuldozik a magyarsagot, elveszik a penzuket, es most meg a szolashoz valo joguktol is meg akarjak fosztani magyarorszagot?
bizom benne h az EU ezt nem engedi, Obama is kinyilvanitotta a velemenyet a magyarorszagi helyzetrol...

Demokrácia Orbán módra át értelmezve.

2011. 01. 01-től A Magát demokratikusnak valló hazug Orbán kormány sárba tiporja a demokráciát egy állságos és csakis az Ő érdekeit szolgáló gyalázatos Média törvénnyel. Vége a Szabad Magyar Sajtónak. Egy Párthű Párt katonákból álló testület önkényesen határozhat a Magyar sajtó büntetéséről...mi és mi nem tetszik nekik......

Jelenleg már csak a sajtó egy része őrzi a demokráciát. Ha ezt is elveszik már semmi sem marad az 1989-ben megszerzett szabadságjogokból. Nem akarom, hogy náluk ismét diktatúra legyen. Elég volt nekem 1948-tól.

Injustice

What a strange coincidence... Just 2 days ago I saw a heart-breaking, yet wonderful British-Hungarian film "Sunshine", directed by Mr. Istvan Szabo. It is a compellingly moving story about three generations of a Jewish family, who are going through three regimes, namely monarchy, fascism and communism. Main protagonists experience just every oppressive element - from an order to change their family name (because it sounds too Jewish), later one of them is being tortured and killed in the Nazi concentration camp, and finally another one of them is being accused of conspiracy against the communist regime, consequently jailed. I keep thinking of grandmother`s words to her grandson in prison: "You are not in prison. They are." (his oppressors)

Today I am reading about firing the theater director on the basis of political affiliation, religion and sexual orientation (according to Anna`s post #154). Not only in Hungary, also in many other countries, including mine, hate speech is becoming trivial. Haven`t we learned anything? Maybe the comparison is too harsh, but it has started with losing job... where is it gonna end? Let`s stop this utter madness.

Szájkosár embereknek ??

A kutyákon sem látom szívesen a szájkosarat,de az embereken a média munkásain meg különösen nem.Lehet,hogy véleményük,híreik nem tetszenek a hatalmon lévőknek,de a demokratikus közvélemény nem nélkülözheti a sokoldalú tájékoztatást.

Az üléspont és az álláspont esete

Van ebben az országban bárki,akit meglep a Magyar Hírlap szokásos "kiegyensúlyozottsága"?
A szerző munkásságát tisztelem,de politikai "éleslátása" sosem győzött meg.Számos más-számomra értékadó-tekintélyt idézhetnénk,akik egészen máshogy látják a történéseket.És persze lehet a nemzetközi sajtót,politikusokat hülyének titulálni,attól még a probléma megmarad.Én igazán akkor lennék meglepődve,ha kishazánk nemzeti -konzervatív oldala merne végre objektív kritikát megfogalmazni preferált pártjának elképesztő túlkapásai miatt.

A madár sem tud szárnyak nélkül repülni.,szárnyait megcsonkitani állatkinzás!
A művészet SZABAD. Ellenkező esetben oda jutunk mint Hitler az "elfajzott művészet" meghatározásával,ami sok művész halálát jelentette a koncentrációs táborokban!
